Hourly Chauffeur or Separate Transfers in Dubai? Choosing 2, 5 or 10 Hours.
Compare hourly chauffeur hire with separate Dubai transfers using 2, 5 and 10-hour itineraries. Plan stops, standby time and questions to ask before booking.
You have a morning meeting, a lunch booking and a hotel to return to. The decision is whether to reserve a car and chauffeur through the gaps or arrange a separate transfer for each journey.
An hourly chauffeur in Dubai can suit a connected schedule with several stops. Separate transfers can suit fixed journeys with a long gap when you will not need the car. Neither option is always cheaper: compare the full timing and written quotes for the same vehicle and route.
Count standby time as well as driving
Standby is the period when you want the car and chauffeur available between journeys, such as while you attend a meeting. For planning, count the full span from the agreed start to the final drop-off, then confirm the package's clock and waiting terms with Summit.
For example, an appointment that lasts one hour does not make the booking one hour long. Travel in both directions, collection and any buffer also need room in the schedule. Nor should you assume that the clock pauses during lunch or that two hours can be split between morning and evening.
With separate transfers, specify each pickup time and address. Do not assume the outbound chauffeur will remain nearby or that the same car will return later unless this is confirmed.
Three worked itineraries
These are illustrative planning budgets, not travel-time predictions or promised operating schedules. The team should check the actual addresses, date, traffic conditions and vehicle availability. Each example includes movement time and a buffer; neither is a guaranteed allowance under Summit's booking terms.
2 hours: a nearby appointment and return
Suppose you leave a Downtown hotel at 10:00 for a DIFC appointment and need to return by 12:00.
- Budget 20 minutes for the first journey and arrival.
- Allow 60 minutes for the appointment while the car is required on standby.
- Budget 20 minutes for the return.
- Keep 20 minutes unallocated for collection, traffic or an overrun.
That is 20 + 60 + 20 + 20 = 120 minutes. A two-hour booking is a candidate if operations confirms the route and timing. If the appointment may run much longer, compare a longer package with two transfers rather than relying on an unconfirmed extension.
5 hours: two meetings and lunch
For a 09:00–14:00 itinerary from a Downtown hotel to DIFC, Business Bay and back, allocate:
- 90 minutes for a first meeting.
- 60 minutes for a second meeting.
- 60 minutes for lunch.
- 60 minutes in total for travel between the agreed addresses.
- 30 minutes of contingency.
The budget is 90 + 60 + 60 + 60 + 30 = 300 minutes. Hourly hire can be useful when departure times may move and you want the vehicle available throughout. Submit every stop: the five-hour label does not establish unlimited distance, free parking or unrestricted additions.
10 hours: visits across a longer day
For a 09:00–19:00 day starting at a Dubai Marina hotel, consider property visits in Dubai Hills and Downtown, lunch and a later appointment before returning to the hotel. A planning budget might allow:
- 120 minutes for the first set of visits.
- 90 minutes for the second set.
- 90 minutes for lunch and a break.
- 90 minutes for the later appointment.
- 150 minutes in total for driving and collections.
- 60 minutes of contingency.
That totals 600 minutes, or ten hours. Confirm the schedule against the exact locations. If you instead have one three-hour appointment followed by a free afternoon with no transport needed, separate transfers may be the more useful comparison.
Compare like-for-like prices
Summit's Mercedes-Benz V300 listing, checked on 9 October 2026, shows starting rates of AED 439 one way within Dubai, AED 769 for two hours, AED 1,044 for five hours and AED 1,429 for ten hours. Final prices depend on the actual booking.
At those starting figures, two one-way fares would total AED 878. The two-hour package is AED 109 lower, while the five-hour package is AED 166 higher. This arithmetic is a comparison of published starting rates, not a route quotation or a savings guarantee.
The deciding question is whether the shorter package covers all the time you need. A low nominal cost per hour on a longer package does not help if you only need one transfer. Equally, comparing two journeys with a package that keeps the vehicle available between multiple stops leaves out part of the service. See our chauffeur costs and inclusions guide for the other charges to check.
Keep airport waiting separate in the plan
For an arrival followed by meetings, ask for either an airport transfer plus a later hourly booking or a combined itinerary. Confirm when each booking period starts. Landing time is not the same as being ready outside with your luggage; immigration and baggage collection can take additional time.
The airport waiting allowance, any additional waiting charge and the start of an onward hourly period should be explicit. Do not assume one allowance automatically extends the other.
Six questions before choosing
- When does the package start and end, and is it one continuous period?
- Which stops, route and distance are covered?
- How are standby and extra waiting treated?
- Are tolls, parking and other applicable costs included in the total?
- Can the booking be extended, and what price and billing increment would apply?
- What payment, itinerary-change and cancellation terms apply?
Send Summit your timed itinerary and request the suitable hourly package alongside separate-transfer options where relevant. Include passengers, luggage and the stops that are fixed or flexible so the comparison reflects the day you actually need.
